Dayal didn't respond to a request to comment for this article and Brevan Howard declined to say anything.
It's understood that Dayal, who is based in New York, is still employed by Brevan Howard for the moment. However, his job is soon being assumed by Al McGroarty, the new London-based Brevan global COO who joined from Maven Securities in July 2025 and who will soon be COO and CFO combined.
McGroarty began his career as a project manager at Goldman Sachs in 1998. He's been a CFO before: he spent four and a half years as the CFO at Tower Research from 2019. That job was supposed to be interim, but wasn't exactly transitory.
As we reported last month, Brevan Howard has been cutting heads. Various middle and back office roles there were eradicated in September. Several senior people have also left Brevan's technology team, seemingly of their own volitions.
Dayal's departure is understood to be amicable. It's thought that his career will now be focused on the US and that he will be pursuing a portfolio of non-executive roles.
Financial News reported today that Brevan Howard's $11bn Master Fund was up 0.26% in the year to the end of September. The $11bn Alpha Strategies Fund was up 6.56% over the same period.
Before his moment at Brevan, Dayal worked for Santander. He spent six years as US CFO at the Spanish bank.
