29-year-old crypto hedge fund manager is hiring veterans
If you're a quant or crypto investor who's seen a few crypto seasons and can put the current crypto summer into context, then Nikita Fadeev might like to hear from you.
Fadeev is head of Fasanara Digital, a crypto hedge fund which has $150m in AUM. As crypto makes a comeback, he says he's hiring "seasoned people," including quants and developers. "We want the smartest people," says Fadeev, adding that they don't necessarily need prior crypto experience, although a perspective on the ups and downs of crypto might help. "We've seen this before," says Fadeev of the latest Trump II crypto boom: "This is our third cycle."
Crypto trades 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and Fadeev has a historic reputation for working all day and all night. On US election night last week, he says he stayed up until 5am and then went to sleep before trading again all weekend. "Volatility is higher than its been in recent times, which is good for us," he reflects.
Fasanara Digital employs 15 people now and Fadeev says it plans to hire another five soon. Recent recruits include someone who spent 15 years at trading firm G-Research as the business adds depth of experience.
As we noted last week, there's some excitement about crypto and potential crypto hiring in the wake of Trump's re-election. Galaxy Digital boss Mike Novogratz said there will now be a "tsunami of institutional participation incoming."
Fadeev agrees. Speaking at a conference last week, he declared: "I truly believe we are at an inflection point where we're finally ready to go mainstream and realize the full potential of what this industry aspires to become."
