Bank of America says it's "shocked and deeply saddened" by VP stabbing minutes from the office
Erin Piacenti, a 32-year-old vice president in Bank of America's New York business selection and conflicts team was fatally stabbed in broad daylight in New York yesterday by a 49-year-old woman with mental health problems

Piacenti was reportedly attacked at 4.24pm. A spokesman for the bank said: "We are shocked and deeply saddened by the tragic loss of our colleague. She was a valued teammate who will be greatly missed. Our hearts go out to her family and all of her loved ones."
A graduate of Fordham University School of Law, Piacenti is thought to have been walking home from Bank of America's office a few minutes away at the time of the stabbing. She joined Bank of America from the M&A team of Davis Polk and Wardwell in February 2025 and is understood to have married only two years ago.
Piacenti's apparently unprovoked stabbing in Times Square has prompted an outcry about safety in New York City. Police shot and killed her attacker, Pamela Cisneros, who was wielding two knives. Ciseneros' brother said she had a long history of mental health problems but there had been no indication that she could be violent.
