Citi brought in two new banking MDs in the US, neither from JPMorgan
Citi’s investment bank has been on a hiring warpath in recent years – and its head of investment banking, Vis Raghavan, has a particular type: his former colleagues at JPMorgan. But two of the newest faces in town aren’t from JPMorgan at all.
One of them is Jonas Curchack, who joined Citi in New York from Barclays. Curchack was at the British bank for over a decade, and made its managing director list in 2022. Despite starting his career in restructuring, Curchack is currently in M&A.
The other is Alena Antigua. Antigua joined Citi from Stifel in the city, where she spent just three years as a managing director in the healthcare team. Antigua was at Jefferies for 11 years before that. She's also currently a director of the Chicago Public Library Foundation.
Citi’s hiring spree from JPMorgan has accelerated recently. The Financial Times reported that at least ten senior JPMorgan bankers had defected or agreed to defect to Citi, recently including Pankaj Goel and Ashish Agrawal. They join former colleagues such as Achintya Mangla, Sid Punshi, and Alok Gupte, among others.
