Despite the global cuts, there are still plenty of jobs at PayPal in Ireland

Ireland has been the beneficiary of huge expansion plans from PayPal, which most recently announced plans to recruit 1,000 people in Dundalk. Therefore, news that the firm intends to cut 325 jobs would have elicited some sweaty palms. However, we’re told that the Irish operation will escape any redundancies.

PayPal is embarking on a “product simplification”, cutting 325 employees mainly in product and technology and severing ties with a further 120 contractors.

A spokesperson confirmed to us that Ireland would not be affected by the redundancy plans.

In fact, the PayPal careers centre in Ireland is positively buzzing. It needs to come good on the promise to hire an additional 1,000 people within its office in Dundalk, which was opened in July.

It’s also expanding its ‘European centre of excellence’ in Dublin and is keen to here from those with a variety of language skills including Norwegian, German, Dutch and Russian.

In Duldalk, PayPal wants to recruit customer service agents, sales staff, lead generation specialist, risk operations agents, financial operations agents, collections specialists and account managers.
