Lunchtime Links: This is what you'll need if you want a job at Pimco Europe

According to Bloomberg, Pimco is expanding in London. It currently has six positions advertised in the city. In September it moved an ETF manager to the UK to lead the expansion of its European ETF business. Headcount at Pimco Europe increased 17% last year and the highest paid European director earned 26m.

So what do you do if you want to work there? Demonstrate that you have common sense.

In an interview with Bloomberg Television, Bill Gross and Mohamed El-Erian said they look for people who are team players, high performers in any situations ("the best athletes") and people with common sense - possibly above intelligence.

"Common sense is a neglected ingredient," said El-Erian. "Intelligence is overvalued. We need common sense in addition to IQ. Put them together and you've got a great investor."

E-Arian also said Pimco structures people in teams comprising: an economist, a mathematician and someone with street instinct. It may be an idea to work out which you are before turning up to an interview there.
