JP Morgan hires Hersch as M&A chairman
JP Morgan Chase has tapped attorney Dennis Hersch, senior partner and head of mergers and acquisitions at Davis Polk & Wardwell, to be chairman of its global M&A group.
In the newly created role, Hersch will work closely with Rob Kindler, the global head of M&A hired from law firm Cravath Swaine & Moore in 2000. Both will report to Douglas Braunstein, head of investment banking in the Americas.
Hersch will finish the year with Davis Polk, the international law firm where he has worked for 35 years. He will start with JP Morgan in January.
Over the course of his career, Hersch has been involved in a number of high-profile transactions, including advising Comcast on its acquisition of AT&T Broadband, and Texaco on its merger with Chevron.
According to Dealogic, JP Morgan Chase ranks third in global M&A year-to-date, behind Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley.
