Description

The Senior Economic Crime Manager provides senior technical expertise and oversight across Xeinadin's economic crime framework. The role acts as a key escalation point for complex and high-risk client matters, Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs) and wider economic crime risks.



Working closely with the MLRO and Economic Crime Team, the role supports effective risk management, regulatory compliance and the consistent application of Xeinadin's economic crime policies and procedures across the business.




Key Responsibilities

High-Risk Clients & Complex Matters:

Provide senior oversight and challenge for high-risk clients, PEPs and other complex client relationships.

Review and approve Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD), including source of wealth, source of funds, complex ownership structures and higher-risk jurisdictions.

Act as a senior escalation point for complex AML and CDD matters.

Provide clear recommendations on client acceptance, continuation and disengagement in line with Xeinadin's risk appetite.



Suspicious Activity Reports:

Review and investigate internal SARs and provide recommendations to the MLRO.

Support the preparation and submission of external SARs and Defence Against Money Laundering (DAML) requests where appropriate.

Support the MLRO with law enforcement requests and other matters relating to suspected money laundering.

Identify trends and emerging risks arising from SARs and escalate significant matters appropriately.



Risk & Governance:

Support the development and periodic review of Xeinadin's Business-Wide Risk Assessment and client risk assessment methodology.

Identify emerging economic crime risks and recommend appropriate enhancements to controls.



Technical Advisory:

Act as a senior subject matter expert and provide practical, risk-based advice on AML, sanctions, PEPs, fraud and wider economic crime matters.

Support the MLRO with the interpretation and implementation of regulatory and legislative developments.

Support the development and maintenance of economic crime policies, procedures and guidance.

Provide technical guidance, coaching and support to members of the Economic Crime Team.



Management Information & Continuous Improvement:

Analyse economic crime data and management information to identify trends, weaknesses and areas of increased risk.

Support regulatory reviews, internal audits and assurance activity relating to economic crime.

Work collaboratively with stakeholders across Xeinadin to strengthen controls and drive continuous improvement.




Key Requirements

Significant experience within AML, economic crime, financial crime or regulatory compliance at Manager or Senior Manager level.



Strong technical knowledge of UK AML legislation, regulatory requirements and the risk-based approach.



Demonstrable experience of managing high-risk clients, EDD and complex AML matters.



Practical experience of reviewing and investigating internal SARs and a strong understanding of the external SAR and DAML process.



Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess complex information and reach clear, evidence-based conclusions.



Strong professional judgement and confidence to challenge and advise senior stakeholders.



Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to translate regulatory requirements into practical and proportionate solutions.

Relevant AML, economic crime or compliance qualification desirable.

Experience within accountancy or professional services is preferred.
