The female MD unexpectedly cut by Barclays in May got a bigger job at a French bank

Olga Tavolzhanskaya has had a few months' rest. She was let go by Barclays at the start of the summer and has just returned to work. She's now at Natixis instead, and her job there appears larger than before.

After nearly 15 years at Barclays in London, where she was latterly a managing director in the financial sponsors group, Tavolzhanskaya has just appeared at Natixis where she has the more impressive title of "head of UK and Northern Europe financial sponsors group."

Tavolzhanskaya's disappearance from Barclays appeared related to the bank's ongoing programme of cost-cuts. Soon after she'd left, the bank hired Carlo De Carlo, a UK-based financial sponsors MD from Bank of America, as a possible replacement in London. In April, Barclays also appointed Asim Mullick, a paper and packaging banker who'd been there 15 years, as head of EMEA financial sponsors M&A.
