"The black heritage bankers are leaving"
Tell me where did all the black heritage people go?
At my bank, based in Europe, they have been decimated.
In 2024, we had a cohort of over 30 at director and MD level. Now we're down to six and some are being put at risk.
Nor is just black heritage colleagues. We've lost women too. Management have been sharpening their pens, and they seem to redrawing an organization that's white, male and very US-ethos driven.
It's become so bad here that we now have a culture committee made up of 12 MDs who are asked with trying to change things. Their objectives are a pipe dream given that everyone has left already.
Is it like this elsewhere? It's depressing. We'd made progress and now we're going back where we came from.
