Singapore hedge fund also ejected top BNP strategist hired in July
As we reported earlier this week, Southern Ridges Capital, the Singapore-based hedge fund founded by former BlueCrest portfolio manager Mohit Khurana, has been cutting staff after losing money in August.

The six portfolio managers who were cut since August seemingly include various others, some of whom are thought to be in New York. They also include Sid Mathur, a macro strategist who only joined in July.
Southern Ridges and Mathur didn't respond to a request to comment, but multiple sources said Mathur has been let go. He's understood to be looking for a new role.
Mathur previously spent five and a half years at BNP Paribas in Singapore, where he was head of APAC macro strategy and emerging market research. Prior to that, he was at Citi for a similar amount of time.
Mathur's almost immediate exit appears to have more to do with Southern Ridges than with him, and is a reminder that hedge fund jobs can be a dangerous option.
