Stripe offering £340k pay to staff in its London office

Stripe's London office can be a lucrative place to work. Last year, the payments fintech's UK arm paid an average salary of £170.2k ($218.2k) per head, and over £160k in 'other compensation.' However, that pay is not evenly distributed.

Stripe, which provides salary ranges for the majority of its roles, currently has 12 openings in its London offices. Below, we've ranked them each from highest to lowest paid.

The standout roles for pay at Stripe are in sales... at first glance, at least. They are paid up to £340k ($435.6k) but this is their OTE (On Target Earnings) range, rather than their salary range. It includes both salary, and projected sales commission pay. These salespeople will be focused on selling Stripe's suite of payment products to larger institutions like Unilever and Amazon.

The top salary exclusively advertised in London is a head of product for EMEA. The role pays up to £180k in salary. A role in Stripe's legal team advertises a much higher salary, but this is because it's also available remotely in the US; it suggests international applicants will receive a different pay range.

Further down the pecking order, all open roles at Stripe in London have the possibility of paying over £100k in salary. It appears to only be hiring around mid-level, however, with the minimum years of experience required for any role being four years, and most roles requiring more.

Stripe's UK headcount fell last year, but it's looking to regain ground in London. In May, it opened a new office in 201 Bishopsgate, which can house about 250 people. London reviews since the opening say the office is a "friendly place" full of "brilliant minds," but warn of a lack of career progression due to Stripe being "US/San Francisco-centric."
