Morgan Stanley's fired head of leveraged finance is joining Mizuho
When Morgan Stanley fired Nick Brice, its head of leveraged finance, in March 2025, it came as a surprise.
Brice, who had worked as a high yield trader for the US bank since 2017, was Morgan Stanley's popular head of North American leveraged finance trading. The reason for his dismissal was not clear.
It does appear to have had an enduring negative impact on his career. After a summer break, Brice is understood to be joining Mizuho instead.
Mizuho declined to comment on Brice's imminent arrival. Sources said he will join after Labor Day. Brice, who is also known as "Nice", is thought to have been hired into the role by Tom Hartnett, Mizuho's head of US fixed income.
