Ex-Goldman Sachs partner joins New York fintech in London

New York capital markets infrastructure fintech Clear Street is home to a plethora of senior bankers, but its burgeoning London office appears to have a preference for one bank. Multiple MDs from TD Cowen have joined Clear Street in recent months, but the most recent to join made his name at Goldman Sachs.

Matthew Cyzer has joined Clear Street as the global head of markets for Europe. He was most recently CEO of Cowen's execution services, and head of European global markets for TD Securities.

Before that, he spent 11 years at Goldman Sachs, joining in 2002 and becoming partner in 2004. He served as co-head of European equity execution services. Cyzer left Goldman in 2012, and had stints at Deutsche Bank and brokerage BTIG. He and his team joined TD amid layoffs at Deutsche Bank.

This time, Cyzer reunites with teammates who left before him. Clear Street has made six other hires from TD since November, including two MDs: Sebastian Greensmith and Tarquin Orchard. They're running the fintech's event-driven strategies business.

It's not just TD that Clear Street likes to hire from in London, however. We've previously spotted MDs joining from the likes of Berenberg and Nomura.
