JPMorgan hired a McKinsey partner as an AI MD in London
JPMorgan, alongside many other banks, is building out its agentic AI capabilities. It doesn't just want technologists to build out the underlying tech, it wants strategy people too. In London, one such strategist, formerly of McKinsey has arrived to work in JPMorgan's payments team.

Zara Davis joined JPMorgan as an MD for B2B agentic commerce. She says her work will involve building out AI agents that can execute payments safely on behalf of businesses, describing the technology as "one of the most consequential shifts in commercial payments in a generation." The bank partnered with partnered with Mirakl, an agentic commerce fintech, to help build out its agentic payments offering in March.
She joins JPMorgan after a 13 year stint at McKinsey. Most of that was spent as a partner within QuantumBlack, the consulting firm's dedicated AI centre of excellence which is home to less than 1,000 of the firm's 38,000+ employees. The firm started out as a Shoreditch-based analytics startup advising Formula 1 teams before McKinsey acquired it in 2015.
Davis has had an unusual career path. She started out in the public sector helping to prepare for the London Olympic games, before becoming an elected councillor for the London Borough of Tower Hamlets at the age of just 22. Davis left McKinsey a year ago and has since held an interim AI transformation role at logistics firm Brambles.
