Some of the most insecure bankers in the world are in Asia. And Wells Fargo
In our 2025 Bonus Expectations report, which had over 2,000 responses from financial services professionals, didn't just ask professionals how they expected their bonuses to change. We also asked them how secure they felt in their roles - and how difficult they thought it would be to find a new job.

As it turns out, financial services professionals feel much more secure in their jobs than in previous years. The insecure holdouts remained mostly in banks with big Asian footprints, such as Singapore-based DBS, as well as London-based-but-Asia-focused Standard Chartered and HSBC. Unsurprisingly, these were also some of the bankers who reported the poorest chances of finding new jobs.
An odd paradox was American bank Wells Fargo. Employees at the firm who responded to our survey reported that they were insecure about their jobs on average, but they were also rather confident in their ability to find new jobs.
Our most secure respondents had European employers. Some of the lowest insecurity scores were to be found at Barclays, BNP Paribas, and Santander. Continental European labour laws help in the EU.
Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley employees also felt surprisingly confident in their job security. “I like it here,” said a Goldman Sachs quant VP based in London. He had received some “positive annual feedback” recently too, although he anticipated his bonus to be flat year on year.
