Goldman Sachs' structured finance team leaked some more senior women

We noted in August that a few senior women had left Goldman's US structured finance team. Two months later, we'd like to note that two more women have disappeared.

Radha Tilton, Goldman's former head of transportation structured finance, has quit and just reemerged as the vice president and treasurer at General Motors. And Hikari Banshoya, a VP in structured finance private placements who was at Goldman for 11 years, is understood to have resigned to join a boutique.

Tilton and Banshoya's disappearances follow the August exits of Madelaine O'Connell, Goldman's head of private placements on the New York asset backed securities syndicate desk, Katrina Niehaus, head of Goldman's esoteric asset backed bond group, and Kelly Mellecker, an MD who worked with Niehaus.

Sources say other, more junior women have left too. It's not clear whether senior have also left, but there no indications of this if so. 

Goldman declined to comment, but we understand the exits are unrelated and that compensatory hires are in the pipeline.

There are, nonetheless, suggestions that the vanishing women are symptomatic both of comparatively low pay for female members of the team and of a dearth of promotions. Mellecker, however, was promoted to MD in November 2023 and left all the same.
