Ex-Goldman Sachs MD & Apple Card head joins a UK fintech

It's not just the Apple Card itself that's leaving Goldman Sachs. Many MDs that worked on the project have found new gigs since the bank began winding down its consumer division. One such MD has found his way to UK fintech Wise.

Mike Boush has joined Wise's North American team as head of banking. Boush spent five years at Goldman. He joined as head of product development for the Apple Card, before transitioning to a product and platform leader in its broader consumer digital banking team.

He left Goldman in August, and has been acting as a consultant and strategic advisor since. Companies he has advised for include cannabis manufacturing firm The Clear, and AI cap table fintech T12.

While UK vacancies for Wise have been projected to decrease in 2024, the fintech has been expanding in Boush's domain. We've seen over 100 new arrivals in the region in the past year, including Tamara Lewis, who joined as head of Americas operations in August. She was previously an operations executive at CashApp, and an SVP at Californian digibank Varo. Both she and Boush are operating out of Austin, Texas.

Wise has 19 openings in the "new and growing hub in Austin", around 10% of total roles on offer at the fintech. Open roles include a head product for North America, who will hire and build the region's product teams.
