Evercore: Still hiring, probably paying nearly $900k per head

As we noted earlier this month, Evercore seems a pretty fine place to be now. Most of last summer's interns got offers and one of its 47 partners in London earned £12m ($16m) last year, while average pay for its 2,400 people globally was $829k.

The good times seem set to continue. Evercore's third quarter results, released yesterday, revealed a 27% year-on-year increase in compensation spending in the first nine months of the year. This matched a 28% increase in revenues. Evercore also increased headcount, by nearly 9% to 2,525 people, so higher payer spending wasn't entirely directed towards current employees. Nonetheless, average pay at the firm is currently on track to reach $891k this year.

Needless to say, pay will not be allocated equally. Evercore acquired Robey Warshaw, the British boutique bank, in July 2025. Robey Warshaw employed 14 people in London. Five were partners. Evercore said yesterday that alongside these five partners, it's also added four other "senior managing directors", of whom two are in the US and two are in Europe and two cover financial sponsors. The hiring means that Evercore has increased its population of senior managing directors by 50% since 2021.

John Weinberg, Evercore's chairman and CEO, said yesterday that the bank has been "really focused on Europe." After taking on additional floors at its New York office, Weinberg said Evercore has also entered into "new leases in Dubai, Paris and London." The French team has been "really built out," said Weinberg. Teams in Scandinavia, Spain and Italy have expanded too.

Evercore's hiring may well continue. Although the bank is now working with "very, very strong companies" that it hasn't worked with before, Weinberg said there's still a "tremendous amount of white space," implying new bankers in new markets are still needed.
