Dymon Capital quietly parted company with a commodities portfolio manager in Hong Kong

As we've noted here before, working as a commodities portfolio manager at a big multistrategy hedge fund is not easy. Commodity investing can be volatile, and multistrategy funds can be averse to losing more than small amounts of money.

It's not clear whether this dynamic was at play recently at hedge fund Dymon Capital, whose Hong Kong office parted company with a commodities portfolio manager who joined four years ago.

Sources say that Zudong Lin, a commodities PM who joined Dymon from Windrose Investment Management in 2021, has left again. It's not clear why he left or where he's going. Dymon didn't respond to a request to comment and Lin's whereabouts are unknown. Lin's exit from Dymon is, however, confirmed by regulatory filings which show him departing in mid-August.

In June, Danny Yong, Dymon's chief investment officer and founder, informed Bloomberg that the fund hadn't lost any portfolio managers to rivals for two years.

Earlier in the month, we noted that Dymon had been on a hiring spree. Sources say it's busy adding 10 portfolio managers in Dubai. They include Ayoub Spitalier, who joined from Millennium in January.
