Deutsche Bank lost a senior structurer in London to a fine job in Dubai

It's not just hedge funds that are hiring London bankers and traders in Dubai. Banks are, too, including the Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank (ADCB).

ADCB is understood to have recruited one of Deutsche Bank's senior structurers in London as its head of corporate finance and leveraged finance. Deutsche Bank isn't commenting, but the FCA register says Udit Choudhari left Deutsche on April 8th. He's currently understood to be on gardening leave.

ADCB only established a debt capital markets (DCM) business in 2021. However, this year it was voted Euromoney's best bank in the Middle East for DCM after appearing on the regional league table for the first time. Euromoney said ADCB plans to push into CIS and African markets in the near future.

ADCB's senior head of debt capital markets and syndicate is Roderick Gordon, who joined from Gulf International Bank in Bahrain in 2021.

Dubai is appealing to bankers in London because it's considered to be safe and because income tax is zero.
