Deutsche Bank chief data office MD in London leaves for French bank
Transformation can be a difficult job, especially when working in a highly scrutinized area like Deutsche Bank's data controls. An MD in the bank's chief data office in London likened the experience to climbing a mountain, but has now departed for a new role at a French Bank.

Marie Lauri has left Deutsche Bank after 14 years to become the risk and finance chief data officer of SocGen. She was an MD there for a decade, half of which was spent in the chief data office, and she was latterly regional data officer for the UK, Europe and APAC.
Deutsche Bank has faced multiple fines in the past over its controls. In mid-2023, the bank was fined $186 over its money laundering control problems by the US Federal Reserve, which separately ordered the bank to improve its risk and data management systems.
Lauri seems to have had a fine time there, however. In a goodbye post on social media, she said some days "felt like pebbles" while others "felt like Everest."
SocGen, meanwhile, hired a new chief data officer almost one year ago in Christophe Tummers. He joined from UBS, where he was an MD and formerly group chief data officer. He said last October that "good work... has historically been done at the bank" regarding its data management framework, but it's in the midst of implementing a "data management framework 2.0."
