A quant at sovereign wealth fund ADIA has left for a hedge fund in Paris

Guillaume Simon may have been a bit homesick. After spending the bulk of his career working in France, he left for the UAE to join its expanding quant team. Three years later, he's back in France.

Simon has joined quant hedge fund Qube Research & Technologies as a quantitative research director, according to his LinkedIn. He spent the last three years as a quantitative research and development lead at the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority, a sovereign wealth fund that currently has more than 150 quants.

Guillaume made his name at French hedge fund CFM, where he worked for 12 years and was a research manager in equities. He started his career as a quantitative analyst at SocGen after obtaining a PhD in econometrics.

ADIA is one of the five largest sovereign wealth funds in the world, and reached over $1tn in assets under management earlier this year. Qube is another rising star, with a skyrocketing headcount and a new office set to open in the US after years of avoiding that market. The latter fund has had a tumultuous year so far, and was down 4.5% in July, but up 13% overall for the year to that month.
