BlueCrest hired a junior rates trader from JPMorgan

It's not just Goldman Sachs rates traders who go to BlueCrest Capital Management, the erstwhile hedge fund that now acts as a family office for Michael Platt, the self-described "highest earning person in the world of finance" - JPMorgan's rates traders have a grouping there too.

The latest JPM emigrant is Adam Power, a former associate on JPMorgan's London rates trading desk. Power spent five years at JPM in London and joined BlueCrest this month according to his LinkedIn profile.

He's in good company. BlueCrest's London rates team also includes people like Melanie Niedermeier, a JPMorgan rates trader who joined two years ago. Tushar Karan, a former FX trader at JPM in Hong Kong, joined in November.

Last time BlueCrest released accounts for its London operation, it had 78 partners and an unspecified number of employees. However, that was 2018 and things may have changed since then. Power isn't BlueCrest's only recent junior hire: in October the fund also recruited Marcus Platt as an associate after he graduated with a degree in urban economics from University College London. It's not clear whether Marcus - who previously interned at BlueCrest after completing an unpaid internship at Extell, is related to Michael, but having a similar surname might have helped.
