You can still get a Goldman Sachs or JPMorgan internship this summer

When is an internship not an internship? Now that most banks' 2020 summer internships have gone virtual, completing an intern programme through Zoom still counts as a valid experience. But how about if you sign up to a three day remote programme that's open to anyone over the age of 18 and includes sessions with leading banks, consultancies and tech firms? Is that still an internship? Or is it a kind of careers fair?

Bright Network are calling it an internship, which might be all that matters when it comes to your CV. Starting today, you can sign up to 'Internship Experience UK' (you'll need to be in the UK), a programme that runs between June 29th and July 16th and that covers six core sectors (you'll need to choose one) with three day online programmes for each.

You can see the dates and the companies participating in the graphic below. In investment banking you can 'intern' with Goldman, JPM and Macquarie. In technology, there's Amazon, Bloomberg and Vodafone.

What will the internship involve exactly? Bright Network say there will be sector-focused skills workshops, project work, performance feedback, guidance from the firms involved, and networking opportunities. All of this sounds very internship-like, even if the programmes are only over three days instead of three+ weeks. Even better, you will receive a completion certificate that can be added to your CV or LinkedIn profile. Any student and recent graduate aged 18+ can apply.

Banks are supportive of the programme, which has been designed to bolster students' CVs in a difficult summer. Janine Glasenberg, EMEA Head of Campus Recruiting at Goldman Sachs, said: "Now more than ever businesses need to be investing in upskilling future leaders and we are very much looking forward to supporting the participants on their journey into the world of work.”
