Someone at Capula Investment Management earned $81m last year

Happy times at Capula Investment Management. They're not quite on a par with the rosy year at online gambling site Bet365, where the boss earned £323m for a year's work, but even so - £61m in annual pay is not to be sniffed at. 

It's not clear who the recipient of the big sum is. In its newly released accounts for the year to March 31st 2019, Capula simply says that its highest paid 'member' (partner) received £61m ($81m) in profit. There are 23 partners in total, but the supposition is that has to be founder Yan Huo.

Huo could probably do with a pay rise. Last year, his pay (or at least the pay attributed to the highest earning member) shrunk to only £36.4m. The year before it was £72m, so Huo will be back to living the lifestyle to which he has become accustomed. 

Capula's generosity to its most fortunate individual comes despite the fact that profits aren't back to their former highs. In the year to March 2017 they were £212m. In the year to March 2018, when pay for the highest earning partner was cut, they were £118m. In the year to March 2019 they were £140m, but pay rose again all the same.

Not all partners at Capula are paid equally. While one individual got £61m last year, the other 22 shared around £80m.
