Barclays is mostly done with all its Brexit hiring in Ireland

If you were thinking of finding yourself a nice new job at Barclays in Dublin for if and when Brexit takes place, there is some bad news: Barclays' Dublin office is now pretty much fully staffed. 

Barclays' European headquarters was officially opened on Dublin's Molesworth Street by Irish prime minister Leo Varadkar in December 2018. The building has room for 420 staff and 120 staff were employed by Barclays in Ireland already. Another 175 were expected to be moved over there from London. Insiders said those roles have now been filled. Barclays declined to comment.

The end of the Dublin-build comes after Barclays' CEO Jes Staley said Barclays is likely to be the biggest bank in Dublin by the end of 2019. It may have achieved that position ahead of schedule. 

Barclays is currently advertising five jobs in Dublin, mostly in risk and compliance. Business Insider reported yesterday that the bank has got a near-freeze on new hiring; one London finance professional who wanted to move to Dublin said they'd been told it was no longer possible to do so.

Laggards may regret delaying their applications to Barclays EU. The Dublin office is understood to be in a desirable location with an Ivy restaurant beneath it and a Marco Pierre White steakhouse opposite.
