Longtime buy-side analyst joins York Capital as MD

A former senior investment analyst and partner at Everett Capital Advisors has joined York Capital Management as a managing director. Specializing as a research analyst, Josh Glickman started at the near 30-year-old hedge fund’s London office earlier this week, according to sources. York Capital declined comment.

Glickman worked as an analyst at Taconic Capital until 2015 when he joined former Taconic exec Kelly Davendar Hampaul following the launch of London-based Everett Capital Advisors. Glickman had previously held a similar role at Scoggin Capital Management, also in London.

Based out of New York but with offices in London and Hong Kong, York Capital currently manages roughly $19bn in assets, down from $26bn in 2015 but up from around $17bn in 2017, when founder Jamie Dinan promoted Bill Vrattos and Christophe Aurand to co-chief investment officers – positions the duo still hold today.

The firm is said to be in the process of raising its fourth distressed fund that is expected to top $1bn. York has been diversifying its traditional multi-strategy hedge fund business by building out its platform with CLOs and a private equity arm, as well as raising a tactical energy fund, according to sources. 

York made headlines in 2010 when it sold a 30% stake to Credit Suisse for $425m. Dinan famously founded the firm just four years after reportedly losing his life savings during Black Monday in 1987. His startup capital at the time was just $3.6m.
