This is what your salary and bonus will really be in banking jobs in Paris

Once upon a time, most front office banking jobs were based in London, but with Brexit (still) approaching some sales and trading and IBD jobs are moving to Paris. - Bank of America's Paris office is, for example, slowly being staffed-up with people transplanted from London, supplemented by mid-ranking staff hired locally

In many cases, banks are guaranteeing that employees shifted from London will continue to be paid at London rates for the first year. After that, however, pay is typically being rebased to local market levels. For some London émigrés this could come as a shock, although for others Paris pay may be higher than expected.

French finance recruiter Vendôme Associés has just released its salary and bonus survey for Parisian banking jobs in 2019. This is what it says pay looks like locally, by market.

What are M&A salaries and bonuses like in Paris?

The best paid analysts in Paris banks are earning salaries of €110k and bonuses of €120k, according to Vendôme. With a total maximum package of €230k (£204k) after three years, this doesn't look bad. In London, average compensation for a third year analyst is closer to £120k.

What are cash equities salaries and bonuses like in Paris?

If you're working in cash equities in Paris, you can expect expect a maximum package of around €150k in a sales role, according to Vendome. This rises to a maximum of €480k for senior sales staff.

What are debt capital markets (DCM) salaries and bonuses like in Paris?

DCM juniors in Paris can expect to earn up to €130k as juniors and up to €510k as seniors. Clearly it makes sense to stick around.

What are structured finance salaries and bonuses like in Paris?

Some areas of structured finance pay less than other areas. As a junior in project finance you can expect a maximum of around €100k. However, as a senior Paris-based leveraged buyout (LBO) banker you can command up to €800k.

What are credit research salaries and bonuses like in Paris?

Senior investment grade and high yield researchers in Paris are on packages that max out between €260k and €280k. Juniors are on maximum packages of €75k to €95k.

prices are very similar in Paris (from rent to food, only thing cheaper is private schools). Therefore, You need to make as much as in london.

Same. Plus Paris is a much nicer, more forward and cleaner city than London.
