Cubist Systematic Strategies hired a quant trading rising star in London
Cubist Systematic Strategies, the quantitative investing business of Steve Cohen's Point72 Asset Management, has made a biggish hire in London.
The fund is understood to have recruited Christoph Himmel, a former quant trader at GSA Capital in London.
Himmel was named as a rising star by the Trade Magazine in November 2018. He previously spent three years as a quant trader at GSA Capital before resigning in February 2019 at what he says was "peak P&L." He's since been on gardening leave.
Himmel has a PhD in aeronautical engineering from the University of Cambridge. He previously spent four years at Oxford Asset Management and a year at Deka Bank in Frankfurt.
Point72 declined to comment on Himmel's arrival. At GSA he ran a strategy on the multi-manager platform “GPR”, trading a high capacity multi-strategy and multi asset class portfolio.
