Quant equity research head joins Goldman Sachs in New York
A longtime director of quantitative equity research at State Street Global Advisors has joined Goldman Sachs as a managing director within their investment management division. Vladimir Zdorovtsov started in New York earlier this month.
Zdorovtsov spent the last 10 months working as the head of research at Rosetta Analytics, a tech startup that builds proprietary artificial intelligence models designed to predict asset price movement, according to LinkedIn. Prior to that, Zdorovtsov held several roles within the investment management division of State Street over a 15-year period, including heading up their advanced research center in London.
Goldman has made it a priority over the last year to add veteran quantatative traders and researchers across its securities businesses. Former CEO Lloyd Blankfein said last year that the bank's "competitive advantage in engineering" will be a "key differentiator" for the future, noting that strats already account for 25% of the firm's total headcount in its fixed income, currencies and commodities division. The addition of Zdorovtsov should help the firm up its quantatative research presence within its investment management business.
The bank didn't immediately respond to a request for comment on the hire.
