Private equity firm linked to Richard Branson adding juniors in Europe

A London-based private equity firm that made headlines last year by partnering with Virgin billionaire Richard Branson on a co-managed fund is growing its business in continental Europe and is looking to add analysts and associates across its existing European offices. Metric Capital Partners is actively hiring junior talent in Paris, Munich, Madrid and Holland, according to a source close to the firm. The company declined comment.

Judging by Metric Capital’s recent junior hires, you’ll need a pretty strong resume to get your foot in the door. Last year, the firm hired an analyst with his master’s degree in economics and finance from the University of Aberdeen and two years of sell-side experience at Deutsche Bank. Two other somewhat recent junior hires include a former M&A associate at Goldman Sachs with a masters from Copenhagen Business School and an ex-Greenhill banker who spent four years at a boutique before joining Metric Capital as an associate.

While the firm doesn’t have a job opening on its website, directors in Paris and Madrid started sharing the job description on social media earlier in the week. As suggested by the aforementioned hires, the company likely isn’t looking to add anyone directly out of university. It's looking for people with two to five years of experience working in private equity, leveraged finance, M&A or management consulting, according to the post. All four EU offices have opened in the last few years. Investment director Sebastian Reinartz, formerly of Swedish private equity firm EQT partners, launched the satellite office in Munich just last year.

Branson and Metric Capital partnered in May on a planned $500m fund designed to target consumer companies in the U.K. and the U.S. At the time, Metric Capital was said to be considering opening a U.S. office, likely in New York, but the company has yet to announce any plans.
