$20k raised in two days after untimely death of senior FX trader
If you work in an FX function in the City of London, you should know David Hitchins. He was the head of FX for EMEA at Jefferies, but has held various senior positions at Unicredit, Credit Agricole and Bank of America Merrill Lynch.
On Monday, aged just 42, Hitchins died suddenly. Jefferies sent out a memo saying it was “extremely grieved” to inform staff of the “untimely passing of an important and well-loved member of the Jefferies family”.
It hasn’t ended there, however. Friends and colleagues at Jefferies have created a Go Fund Me page, aiming to raise $200k to set up an education fund for Hitchin’s children. So far, within two days and after donations from 97 people, the page has raised $19.6k.
Hitchins leaves behind four children under the age of 18, so clearly his colleagues wanted to do more than simply give their well wishes to the family. If you want to donate to Hitchin’s fund, go here.
Hitchins joined Jefferies in November 2015 as head of its EMEA FX business. Before this, he spent nearly three years as co-head and founder of fund manager Alacrity FX. He has also worked as global head of G10 vanilla trading at Unicredit, global head of FX options at TD and held the same position at both Credit Agricole and Bank of America.
