Seven junior, mid and senior people being hired by hedge funds now

The end of the year may be looming, but hedge funds in London are still hiring, and it’s not just portfolio managers with an all-important track-record who make the cut.

So far this month, some of the largest UK hedge funds have been building their junior and mid-ranking employees, as well as hiring seniors. Here’s our pick of the recent hires.

Bluecrest Capital Management has hired a junior equity derivatives trader from BNP Paribas

Ruben Sadoun started at BNP Paribas as a assistant trader on its equity derivatives desk in November last year, following an internship at J.P. Morgan in London. After just a year in banking, this Imperial College London graduate is now a trader at Bluecrest focused on convertible bonds, credit and equity derivatives.

Citadel has hired an associate in global equities trading

Augusto Frausin started at Citadel earlier this month as an associate in global equities. He joined from Anchorage Capital, where he was an associate focused on long-short equities, fixed income and structured products. Frausin began his career at Deutsche Bank, focused on special situations, but moved to Blackstone’s real estate group within seven months. He stayed for just over two years before joining Anchorage.

Millennium Capital Management has hired a European business manager

Oliver Arengo-Jones is another former employee at a French bank who's joined a hedge fund. He was hired by Millennium as a European business manager after working at Societe Generale where he was a director in hedge fund sales. Arango-Jones was at SocGen for just over two years. Before that spent 10 years in prime brokerage at Newedge.

Brevan Howard has hired a marketing director from Deutsche Bank

Marketing professionals who can bring in assets for hedge funds are hot property right now. Brevan Howard, which has lost more than half its assets under management, has just hired Inga Scharpenack from Deutsche Bank as a marketing professional. She was previously a director and head of alternative investment sales for Germany and Austria at Deutsche Bank in London. Scharpenack was at the German bank for nearly ten years.

Cheyne Capital Management has hired Numen Capital’s head of business development

Cheyne’s recruitment of Nikos Kargadouris proves again that marketing professionals are in demand. Kargadouris is more senior than most people on this list – he previously headed up marketing and business development and Numen Capital, as well as founding his own hedge fund Balliol Capital. Hedge funds are still willing to hire senior people as 2016 draws to a close.

Moore Capital Management has hired a macro portfolio manager

Tolga Ediz has joined Moore Capital Management as a portfolio manager focused on macro strategies. For the past eight years he’s worked as a portfolio manager and researcher for Ashmore, on a similar macro strategy fund. This is his first hedge fund job – he previously worked as a researcher at Lehman Brothers and an economist for the Bank of England.

Winton Capital has hired a product development professional

Youtube star Jess Greenberg excepted, Winton Capital hasn’t been making a lot of hires this year after a relatively expansionary 2015. However, it’s just poached Glen Bureau, who was a director in Deutsche Bank’s global investment solutions division. He joins as a senior vice president in product development.
