The top 15 fixed income traders at Goldman Sachs in London

Things are changing at Goldman Sachs. It's a 'partner year:' in less than six months time around 80 people will be promoted to Goldman's top rank. In the meantime, existing partners are retiring, or quietly leaving, and the firm is cutting jobs.

For the moment, however, the roster of senior fixed income traders and salespeople in Goldman's macro business in Europe is mostly unchanged. Ever since Britain voted to leave the EU, it's macro traders who have been at in the eye of the storm. Therefore, it's the men (and they are almost all men) below who determined the bank's performance in a difficult second quarter.

The names on the list have been provided to us by Goldman insiders and by headhunters. Some of them objected to our previous list, derived from the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) website, which purported to show the highest paid traders at Goldman in Europe. Crucial names on the list below are omitted from the FCA Register.

Let us know if you think we've left anyone off (or included anyone unnecessarily). Until then, this is who you need to know if you want to get ahead in macro at Peterborough Court.

Kostas Pantazopoulos - global head of interest-rate trading at Goldman Sachs

London-based Pantazopoulos is a pair of safe hands at Goldman. He's worked at the bank for over 15 years according to the FCA. He's in charge of the firm's entire rates trading business and added responsibility for ex-Japan Asia in 2012.

Goldman hired London-based Mirza from J.P. Morgan as its new head of global FX trading in 2014. Mirza had worked for J.P. Morgan since 1998.

Pathmanabhan became sole head of European rates trading at Goldman, reporting to Pantazopoulos, in January 2015.  He joined Goldman at least 15 years ago and is commonly known as 'Niru.'

Simon Kingsbury, senior euro swaps trader at Goldman Sachs

We don't know much about Kingsbury other than that he's senior on Goldman's euro swaps desk. "He's an MD who's been making money there for a long, long time," says one headhunter.

London-based Mix was name global head of loan trading at Goldman in 2012. He previously ran the firm's Asian credit business.

Rombouts is head of EMEA FX sales at Goldman. He was promoted to partner in 2012.
