Who hired in the Middle East in September?

As talk turned to job cuts in the Middle East financial sector a number of firms continued to add headcount. However, at this point in the year, most would expect more new recruits to be unveiled.

The Abu Dhabi Investment Authority has named Glen Beamson as its chief technology officer. He joins from Standard Bank.

Arbuthnot Latham has named Linda Amili Clack as international director – head of Middle East private banking.

Barclays has expanded its regional wealth management function with the appointment of Sandip Aggarwal as director, private banker. He joins from HSBC.

Coutts has continued its hiring spree in the Middle East with the appointment of four private bankers. Rishi Mansukhani, who joins from HSBC, is co-lead on the non-resident Indian business. Mahesh Ram has been named director and joins from ABN Amro. Jai Prakash Paliwal also joins as a director, from ICICI Bank, and Amit Tyagi has been appointed vice president, having come from HSBC.

Emirates NBD has named Aazar Ali Khawaja as its new group treasurer. He was previously at Barclays.

Mashreq has named Abdulla Bin Aqeel and Mohamed Eisa as branch managers as part of its focus on Emiratisation.

Pinebridge Investments has made two new appointments to its Bahraini operation, which it started in July. Arun Kumar has been named chief operating officer and Janick Fierens is managing director, head of client service.

QBG Geojit, a new joint venture between BNP Paribas and Qurum Business Group, has started a new operation in Oman.

Standard Chartered has unveiled Steve Perry as head of capital markets for the Middle East, North Africa and Pakistan. He was previously global head of project, aircraft and shipping finance syndications, a role he retains.
