This church-focused insurer is expanding in Ireland
Insurance recruitment, which has been relatively active in Ireland over the past 18 months has shown signs of slowing recently. However, one niche company has plans to double its operations here.
Ecclesiastical Insurance, which has traditionally provided cover for largely Anglican religious activities, is planning to double its revenues in Ireland. It has no plans to branch out into other types of insurance, however, instead favouring to focus on its ‘core areas’, namely as a financial services provider to clergy and church people.
It employs around 900 people in its head office in Gloucestershire, but its Ireland operations – in place for 32 years – are focused on commercial insurance activity.
However, developments like the government’s plans to lessen the Roman Catholic Church’s influence on the schooling system are being viewed as opportunities for growth.
