Recruitment firm outlines precisely where it thinks the financial services jobs are in Ireland now
Recruitment firm Morgan McKinley has unleashed its latest employment monitor looking at hiring trends for professional people in Ireland. It's not financial services-specific, but it does touch upon finance roles. And there is some good news.
In August, Morgan McKinley says there was strong demand for part qualified and for qualified accountants with a second European language. There was also strong demand for internal auditors (confirming our guest comment from Hays).
At the same time, Morgan McKinley says that Irish job seekers remain "passive" and that Irish businesses are uncertain as to who they want to hire. As hiring processes have become elongated, job specifications keep changing during recruitment.
The number of professional jobs opening up in Ireland fell 1% in August 2012 compared to August 2011, calculates Morgan McKinley. The number of new professional jobseekers fell 2% over the same period. This is nothing compared to the UK, where new financial services candidates fell nearly 60% year-on-year last month - to a five year low as everyone decided to stay in the job they're in already.
