Meet the St. Andrew's University graduate who's a big star at Aberdeen Asset Management
Home grown Scottish talent is making a massive difference at Aberdeen Asset Management. If you want an asset management job in Scotland, your role model should probably be Devan Kaloo, the 40 year-old head of global emerging market equities at Aberdeen, has generated better returns than any other large fund, anywhere in the world.
Bloomberg reports that Kaloo's 12 man team of emerging markets fund managers has generated alpha of 1.7% over the past five years, more than any of its rivals. As a result, Bloomberg says Kaloo has fueled a 60-fold surge in assets at Aberdeen in the past five years.
Kaloo graduated from St. Andrews University with an a MA in Management and International Relations and took a postgraduate degree in Investment Analysis from The University of Stirling. He worked for Martin Currie on the North American desk before joining Aberdeen in 2000.
