The big hirers in the City in July (and, of course, the big firers)

A good way of taking the temperature of the City job market is not just to look at the absolute volume of roles released by specialist recruitment agencies, but also to see which firms are adding or taking away key people from the FSA register.

These roles include compliance, but also client-facing and jobs which have a ‘significant’ influence on the organisation. As ever, the FSA register is faithfully tracked by research firm IMAS.

So, who’s hiring? The biggest recruiter (again) is Legal & General’s asset management arm, which increased by 26 people (or 8.5%) on the previous month. Since May, the number of FSA approved persons at the firm has increased from 334 to 376.
