If you want a financial services technology role in Ireland, Citigroup is still doing a lot of hiring

As we've noted before, Belfast is developing a niche as a financial services technology hub. Banks and technology firms like to base their employees there because Belfast is cheap and because there's an ample supply of experienced technology staff there.

Within Belfast, Citigroup is the queen of financial services technology recruitment. It employs around 1,000 people there already. More importantly, Belfast is the focus of Citigroup's technology recruitment for the future.

Of around 35 technology jobs currently advertised globally by Citi, all but two are Belfast-based. Many of its Belfast hires seem intended to support Citi's investment banking operations: it wants Java Developers for its equities business and an FX database developer, for example.
