University of Edinburgh Business School's MBA has been re-accredited by AMBA for years. But will it help you get a financial services job

If you're in Scotland and thinking of studying an MBA, it may interest you to learn that the University of Edinburgh's Business School has just been re-accredited by the Association of MBAs for another five years.

So far so exciting, but will an Edinburgh MBA help you develop your financial services career in Scotland?

It certainly ought to: according to the November alumni magazine, finance is one of the Edinburgh MBA's specialities (along with entrepreneurship, family business, carbon management and strategy).

However, the Financial Times' global MBA rankings suggest graduates from Edinburgh earn an average of £63k after three years, which doesn't sound especially finance-like. By comparison, MBA graduates from the London Business School, where around 34% of people go into finance careers after the course, earned an average of £98k after three years according to the FT.
