We don't usually go in for long lists of recent recruits, but in view of the relentless bad news about recruitment, it's worth pointing out that things have been happening. Moreover, senior hires tend to like to stamp their impression on an organisation and can be counted upon to do some senior hiring of their own once they've settled in. You may therefore soon wish to send your CV to some of the senior individuals listed below.

This list comes courtesy of search firm Veni Partners, which has got a fuller global list on its website. Managing partner Stephane Rambosson, a former head of ECM for France at Citi, tells us there is recruitment activity in London - just less than before. He adds that a lot of senior people are simply deciding to get out of the industry: "They start on the hiring process and then decide they want to leave. That's happening a lot at the moment. The risk reward calculation in banking has changed."

This should make it easier for everyone who stays behind.

3i 

3i has cut 37% of its staff, but seems to be hiring at a strategic level. It's got a new CEO (Simon Borrows) who used to be the CIO. It's also got a new director of strategy (Ben Loomes, once an ED for IB in the UK at Morgan Stanley). It's got a new head of strategic growth (Andrew Bellis, formerly global head of new issue CLOs at Credit Suisse). And it's got a new portfolio manager (David Fewtrell, formerly head of leveraged loans at HSBC).

Absa 

Barclays' South African subsidiary has hired a head of IB for Africa from Goldman Sachs. He will be based in London and is named Philip Lindop.

Allenby Capital

Allenby Capital, a small cap broker and boutique, has hired Amrit Nahal from Arden Partners for equity sales.

Baader Bank 

Baader Bank, a German securities trading company and investment bank, seems to be hiring. It recruited six equity analysts (albeit not all in London) in April, including Jose Asumendi, an automobile analyst previously of UBS.

Banca IMI

Banca IMI, the investment bank owned by Intesa San Paolo, has also been hiring in London. It recruited Jan Mutsaers as Head of Capital Markets - EM from ING.

Bank of America

Bank of America has shaken up its investment banking business. It's hired Diego de Giorgi, who was COO IB at Goldman Sachs and has promoted Bob Elrfing, who was head of IB for Benelux. Both men are based in London..

It's also hired: Alexis de Rosnay from Lazard as Co-Head of Global Healthcare and Member of the IB Committee and Chris Lees from Citi as head of FIG & SSA Syndicate.

C8 Investments 

C8 Investments, a hedge fund set up by two former principals at Bluecrest, has hired Mike Ward, the former MD of equity derivative sales and hedge funds at Merrill.

Code Advisors 

Code Advisors, a San Francisco-based technology boutique which has just opened in London hired Arran Butt from UBS to open its new office.

DC Advisory Partners

Long heralded as hiring in M&A, DC Advisory Partners has recruited 1 person in London. And that is: Jack Dessay has been appointed ED, TMT, from Deutsche.

Deloitte

Are M&A bankers returning to accounting firms? Deloitte has hired Duncan Chandler from Rothschild for its FIG team.

Duke Advisors 

Frank Herzog, formerly a TMT at Citi, has opened his own boutique: Duke Advisors. Maybe Frank will hire?

Edison Investment Research 

Edison Investment Research, an independent research company, has hired Justin Lloyd Williams from MainFirst for equity sales.

Goldman Sachs

Goldman has hired Neil Slee as an executive director in its bond syndicate team. Slee was previously at Credit Suisse.

Greenhill

Also noted as hiring, Greenhill's hired Luca Ferrari from Goldman as co-head of corporate advisory to expand its presence in Europe. It's also hired Anthony Parsons from Deutsche.

Houlihan Lokey

The restructuring house has hired Kristian Terling as head of investment banking from the Nordic region. Terling was previously at Credit Suisse where he was co-head of investment banking for the Nordic region.

iCON Infrastructure

iCON Infraastructure has hired Iain Macleod, a senior M&A banker from Deutsche Bank.

Investec 

Despite making a lot of equity research redundancies when it acquired Evolution in December 2011, Investec has hired a few new researchers recently in London. Specifically, it's hired: Brian Gallager and Jerry Ho for oil and gas. Gallagher joins from Dolmen Securities. Ho joins from GMP.

Jefferies

Jefferies also still seems to be hiring in London. It's brought on Andrew Bell from HSBC as head of M&A for Europe and Asia and Lyndon Norley from Greenberg Traurig Maher as head of European restructuring. Both men may like to reshape their teams.

KPMG 

KPMG seems to be hiring for its restructuring business in London. It's recruited a head of restructuring from Alvarez and Marsal and two directors from Alix Partners. The new head is Lucas Fecker. The new directors are Matt Johnston and John Slatkin.

Lepe Partners

Jonathan Goodwin, once an MD of media and internet banking at Jefferies, has founded Lepe Partners, a independent merchant bank focused on media and consumer entrepreneurs.

Liberum Capital

One of the big hirers of 2010, Liberum still seems to be adding staff selectively. It's hired Lawrence Sugarman as head of telecoms research. Sugarman was formerly at RBS.

Mitsubishi UFJ

Mitsubishi seems to be emerging as one of this year's hirers. It's most recently recruited Sean Malone as head of global loan syndicate from RBS.

Northland Capital Partners

Northland Capital Partners, a corporate advisory and broking house, has got a new head of ECM: Steven Baird from Global Investment Strategy.

Numis

Numis has hired a director of retail equity research from UBS: Matthew Taylor.

Otrkritie

Otkritie, the Russian brokerage house in the process of being acquired by Nomos Bank, hired a few people. They included: Ben Wood as head of DMA in London. Wood previously worked at Flextrade.

Piper Jaffray

US investment bank Piper Jaffray has been building its M&A team in London. It's hired Stefan Zinzen from Citi and Charmont Investments as a principal in the technology investment banking team.

RBS

RBS has got a new head of futures and options sales: Brian Daley from MF Global.

RBC Capital Markets

Also a big hirer in recent years, RBC has recruited one person in London. That is: Kerr Finlayson from HSBC Director SSA Syndicate.

Stormharbour

As it predicted last year, Stormharbour has been building its insurance solutions business. It's hired Christian Dinesen from BAML as MD and head of insurance solutions.

UBS

UBS has had a big internal shake-up. It's also been hiring. London recruits include: David James from Citi as head of corporate broking Roger Naylor from Deutsche as head of global equity derivatives. And Alexis Besse from BAML as global head of macro structuring.

Vision Capital

Vision Capital, an 'investment firm',  has hired Giulio Piccinini, once a financial sponsor banker at Bank of America Merrill Lynch, for its London office.
