Without wanting to dwell too much on the negative, we'd like to point out that the number of people receiving approval from the FSA reached a new low in June.
The new figures from research firm IMAS, which are released monthly, suggest that the number of new ‘approved persons’ – namely, those in controlled functions compliance, ‘significant influence’ or client facing roles – fell to 785 in June, the lowest figure since it started tracking them.

Overall, the number of approved persons declined by 567 from May, showing that redundancies far outstrip the jobs being created.
