Quite a lot of the best paid jobs in Scottish financial services are going to non-Scots
A survey by Change Recruitment Group found that 28% of jobs paying more than £50k a year are filled with candidates from outside Scotland. By comparison, only 12% of jobs paying less than £50k a year are filled with candidates who aren't located in the country.
Conclusion: there is either insufficient local talent to fill the highest paid Scottish jobs, or candidates from outside Scotland are willing to move into the country for highly paid roles and are seen as preferable.
Andrew Welsh, Associate Director at Change Recruitment, says there's been an, "influx" of talent into Scotland. It's not just from London, but from Dublin and Luxembourg too.
Welsh also said that a lot of this year's Scottish hiring has been focused on temps and contractors.
