"Banks will hire in two areas. First, they will hire for a new revenue stream – for a business they are looking to get into. Secondly, they will try replenishing rainmakers. There is still M&A hiring, for good quality bankers with relationships, but recruitment is difficult to justify and sign-off goes right to the top of the management chain."
