Look, these places still have financial services internship and graduate positions going for 2012!

You should really have completed your application for an internship or graduate position at an investment bank a long time ago. Most banks open their applications in August. If you haven’t applied, you’re eight months late. But who are we to castigate? Maybe you did apply. Maybe you didn’t get in. Either way, there are still a few jobs going for this year.

Briefly, this is what we have been unable to unearth on your behalf. We haven’t included long internships of 6-9 months on the assumption that you won’t be eligible for these, unless you’re at university in Continental Europe.

1. Citi has 2012 summer internships still going in its corporate bank inLondonand in its global transaction services business in Dublin

Citi still wants a couple of summer interns.

Specifically, it wants: a summer analyst for its EMEA Institutional Clients Group in London (apply here); and a summer analyst for its global transaction services business in Dublin (apply here).

2. ICAP still has full time graduate jobs for a 2012 start inLondonin ‘post trade risk services’ and is looking for 2012 summer interns in ‘business services.’

If you’re willing to work in the middle office or operations (which maybe you ought to be), ICAP, an interdealer broker, has positions still open (visible here).

It’s looking for people to join full time in ‘post trade risk services,’ which includes both operations and technical functions.  It’s also looking for a summer intern to work in ‘business services,’ which includes compliance and back office functions. The deadline for applying for both roles is April 15th. For more information, click here.

3. Towers Watson wants an investment intern

Towers Watson, an investment consulting, risk management and ‘professional services’ firm, is still looking for a summer intern.

It wants an, ‘investment intern’ to work in its investment consultancy business inLeeds. Click here for information. No deadline is specified.

4. Trafigura wants technology interns

As we’ve noted before, commodities trading house Trafigura has a graduate programme.

At the moment, it’s still looking for people in London. Specifically, it wants interns for its technology business. The interns will spend 10 weeks working for Trafigura this summer, and will be paid and provided with accommodation.

5. RBS has had to extend the deadline for its retail banking graduate programme

A lot of people want to work in investment banking. Far fewer want to work in retail banking.  HSBC said 9,000 students applied to work in its retail bank this year, but that 17,000 applied to work in its investment bank.

RBS appears to be suffering from the same sort of problem. It’s extended the application deadline for its retail banking graduate programme until April 30th. If you wanted to work in investment banking, but will settle for retail banking, click here.
