Does this mean everyone will be earning less at Nama?

Death by a thousand cuts

Headcount at Nama may be growing, but the agency is under pressure to cut pay for its staff.

Earlier this week, the Independent reported that 14 out of 15 of the highest paid people at the National Treasury Management Agency, which provides staff to Nama, had received a pay cut.

The people in question were reportedly given a choice: accept a 15% salary cut, or have their pay reduced to €200k or less. Bonus payments have also been cut “dramatically.”

Average compensation at Nama is around €88k per head. It’s not clear whether other staff have had their pay cut too, but it seems possible that bonuses will be down across the board.

"It has become more difficult over the last year to hire and retain staff and the situation of having ongoing pay cuts and bonus deferrals is not sustainable," a source told the Independent.
