We’re a little late on this, but if you’re a Scottish graduate wondering where to try your luck, you might want to send your CV to Edinburgh-based FNZ, which aspires to hire 20 graduates before March.
FNZ provides IT and administration services to wealth managers. Edinburgh is its ‘world headquarters.’
According to one of its existing graduate recruits, a computer science graduate from Heriot Watt University, FNZ is a great place to work because it provides cold beer desk on Friday afternoons. “At the end of my first week, I was surprised to discover a cold bottle of beer on my desk,” he says. “But this is a regular thing, every Friday at 4.00pm. It’s a great way to end the week.”
Failing that, Deloitte is also still understood to have vacancies in its Edinburgh, Aberdeen and Glasgow offices for a 2012 start. Apply very soon.

Separately, could Glasgow benefit from a new flood of financial services jobs? Yes - if you’re of the, ‘If you build it, they will come,” mentality.
A new office building is being developed out of an old car park in the International Financial Services District.
Initially, this will create only 250 construction jobs. When it’s completed in 2013, however, St. Vincent Plaza will have the potential to house 1,700 staff. The chief executive of the firm developing the new building says it’s intended to attract, “yet more big-name corporates” to the city. JPMorgan, Morgan Stanley, Barclays Wealth and BNP Paribas are already there.
