Wanted: M&A professionals at Sberbank/Troika
Sberbank's making a big push into M&A this year. It's already stated its intention of hiring 40 people in order to compete against VTB, and - according to Bloomberg, has just hired Dirk Werner (formerly of Bank of America and Morgan Stanley) and Angelo Morganti (formerly of RenCap) for its M&A business.
It's got a long way still to go if it wants to catch up with VTB, however. According to Thomson Financial, Troika ranked 13th for completed Russian M&A last year and Sberbank ranked 25th. VTB ranked second.
